Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyongo Kisumu has today signed an MOU with Victoria Development Company for the construction of level 7 Victoria Hospital and Cancer Centre.

This collaborative initiative is expected to commence in August and completed within 2 years.

The 250 bed hospital will comprise of General Medicine, Renal Unit and a Cardio center; a funeral parlor, a doctors’ plaza, a nursing school and a five star hotel.


The Governor said the proposed hospital is destined to become a provider of highly specialized health care to the population of the Greater Lakes Region while creating effective linkages.

“The hospital is set to promote medical tourism given that Kisumu offers a strategic location for serving Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Southern Sudan, Eastern part of DRC and Northern Tanzania,” Nyong’o said.

The Victoria Development Company Chairman Dr. Joseph Aluoch said the facility will offer ophthalmology, general and orthopedic surgery, coagulation, hematology, Microbiology, cytology, Chemistry, anatomic pathology, immunology, and aviation medicine services.


The Governor was accompanied by the County Secretary Dr. Onudi Olang’o, Dr. Rosemary Obara the health CEC, the Chief of Staff Mr Patrick Ouya, the Finance CEC Mr Nerry Achar amongst other officers.
