After winning a mega jackpot of KES 230M, the largest ever in Kenya’s jackpot history, Gordon Ogada was the envy of many who take part in betting. That was earlier in February this year.

The jackpot came his way after he correctly predicted the outcome of 17 matches. The father of twins who lives in Kibera was the second mega jackpot winner after Samuel Abisai.

Well now, barely 3 months after he became the newest millionaire in this sorry country, the KEMRI employee cannot even tell where he has taken the money, he has publicly revealed that he’s as broke as never before.

Gordon Ogada says that some of the many investments he made included “putting up his parents’ home in the village” and “investing in buying a few cows too”.

Unlike his KES 221 winner Abisai who decided to invest his win in business expansion, Gordon Ogada might have opted to live like a king, well put as, decided to be a Luo with his money.

“After this kind of spending, I honestly feel embarrassed because sometimes I don’t even have a dime. I am no longer able to help my friends and relatives financially.

They think I have loads of cash, when, in real sense, I don’t have money floating around,” Ogada said during an interview

As other blame the 31-year old for being extravagant and a spend-thrift, many others feel he is not to be blamed as the flamboyant spending lifestyle is living right inside him, being a Luo.

When pressed to say more, the fella had this to add:

“I bought a house here in the city and a few cars, besides other investments here and there. All these cost millions. I’m literally drained of course.

I might have made a few mistakes here and there. But largely, I did fine. I think I would be more responsible,” Gordon Ogada said

In one incident when he had just won the jackpot while being ferried to his Kibera house, the SportPesa mega jackpot winner dished out money to cheering crowds, throwing notes through the window of his stretch Chrysler limousine much to the excitement of the crowd. Something his fellow winner, Abisai never did.

Now we can just wait as the expenditure unfolds just in case we could start seeing the fruits of his expenditure.

He still bets though and hopes to win big again. He has promised himself that just in case he wins again, he will be more responsible with his spending.
