In a match that ended in a 0-0 after full time later Gor Mahia lost 3-4 to Englishmen Hull City in penalty shoot outs, Kogalo might still be lucky to receive some appreciation in terms of monetary benefits.
The two sides played in a fully packed Kasarani Stadium on Sunday in a match that was attended by people from all walks of life including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o amongst other leaders.
Well now, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua came out to support Gor Mahia in yesterday’s match that saw close to 60,000 football lovers pack at Kasarani to witness the much anticipated clash.
The Governor, as a support to the team had promised half a million to Kogallo had they beaten Hull City.
“If you have never watched Gor Mahia play, you would not understand how good they are. I am rooting for Gor in today’s match against Hull City. Win and come for a 500k shillings from me” he tweeted before the match
After the match, the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader seems to have been impressed by the green army’s perfomance and decided to award the boys a sum of KES 300,000.
“Good job Gor Mahia. You played well and the game could have gone either way. A match that ends in penalties means that both teams are evenly matched. Very proud of you. Najivunia kuwa Mkenya. Come for 300k shillings.”

The match was organised by giant gaming firm Sportpesa a year after a similar one back in February 2017 where an all-star Kenyan team played Hull City at KCOM stadium.
