Once a popular ring queen, Conjestina Achieng’ has been reduced to a forgotten hero after a series of championships during her heydays in her boxing career.
She fell ill a couple of years ago and was admitted at a mental hospital back in 2012 before being moved back to her rural home somewhere in Siaya County where she has been putting up with her mother.
Conjestina Achieng’, 40, a once shining boxer is now wallowing in abject poverty and showing more signs of mental disorder after being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
Her mother at once sent a plea through a video that was shared by TV girl Lulu Hassan asking Kenyans to help her take care of her once star daughter.
According to the mother, Conjestina has already destroyed most of her championship belts and shields she won while participating in tournaments that were both local and international.
Well, in numerous posts by top gospel singer Daddy Owen and NACADA Director Chipukeezy seen by KISUMUINSYDER.CO.KE, Conjestina’s breakthrough could be headed her way.
Daddy Owen posted a video of Conjestina and captioned it with a moving message, asking for something to be done to the once Kenyan hero.
“Aki ths is sad.. just shed a tear, May God bless her and let’s do something ths.. any sports star.. celebrity.. and anyone in the society just know one day u will become a legend and u may feel u deserve more respect.. start by respecting other legends.. let’s do something” he posted

In a separate post, the gospel singer requested to be led to the boxing star as he’d been in contact with Chipukeezy who’d vowed to help save Conjestina from the pangs of poverty and depression.
According to Chipukeezy, the government has been trying to help the boxer but he has pledged to begin the exercise once more and have Conjestina celebrated once more.
“I’ve talked to the family and we have agreed I go pick her tomorrow in kisumu and take her to the Best Rehab/mental in Kenya.. As NACADA We will take care of her 🙏🙏🙏” he said
Chipukeezy will therefore pick Conjestina from her rural home on Friday, November 2nd to begin her process to recovery.
As at the time of this story going online, Chipukeezy was on his way to Kisumu.
This has also been supported by Nairobi’s Governor Mike Sonko who according to a statement on his page seen by KISUMUINSYDER.CO.KE has promised to personally ensure that ‘Conje’ is fully treated, rehabilitated and a stable job secured for her to regain her status.
“I’ll personally ensure Congestina is fully treated and rehabilitated, before she’s assisted to get a stable job to enable her become financially independent,” wrote Sonko.
