Days after legendary boxer Conjestina Achieng was airlifted from her Siaya home to Nairobi, social media has showered endless praises and congratulated Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for aiding the process.
Conjestina had been reduced to a village pauper after years of glorified championships in the ring both locally and internationally.
The 40 year old has been putting up with her mother, eaten up by abject poverty and an alleged mental disorder.
Following a viral video of the boxer earlier last week, gospel singer Daddy Owen together with NACADA director Chipukeezy had arranged on how to collect the former boxer and fly her to Nairobi for rehabilitation and treatment.

Aki ths is sad.. just shed a tear, May God bless her and let's do something ths.. any sports star.. celebrity.. and anyone in the society just know one day u will become a legend and u may feel u deserve more respect.. start by respecting other legends.. let's do something
Nairobi Governor through his unit the Sonko Rescue Team made it earlier to Kisumu and airlifted Conjestina to Nairobi, stealing all the social media glory.
There was a stand-off between Sonko’s team and Chipukeezy’s team at the Kisumu Airport over who was to collect the boxer.
The two sides were involved in a brief squabble before they finally agreed Conjestina to be flown via the Nairobi Governor’s unit.
Well, according to popular news anchor Lilian Muli, she sees no need for public credits accorded for either of the teams as that act was long overdue.
Lilian Muli through a post pointed out that both the Kenyan leaders and the government are not doing enough to support legendary heroes until tragedy strikes in most cases.
“I’M GLAD SHE’S GETTING THE NECESSARY MEDICAL ATTENTION, I THINK THAT’S LONG OVERDUE; BUT THEN AGAIN I ASK MYSELF WHAT NEXT AFTER TREATMENT?
WILL THAT TAKE AWAY THAT GNAWING FEELING THAT SHE WAS ONCE A HOUSEHOLD NAME AND NOW FEELS PERHAPS INVISIBLE? WHAT AS A GOVERNMENT AND SOCIETY ARE WE DOING TO HONOR THOSE WHO MAKE KENYA PROUD IN WHATEVER FIELD?” she wrote
Lilian Muli went ahead to give an example of Maurice Odumbe who in a recent interview complained of being treated as an outcast by the Kenya Cricket Association (KCA) and claimed the situation has left him depressed.
She has told off those taking credits for always coming to the public to share what they do for the less priviledged.
Lilian Muli sent a plea to relevant authorities to help regain Kenya’s almost forgotten heroes other than letting self seeking people to dig for public credit using such sad situations.
“WHILE THE HELP IS APPRECIATED I SEE A LOT OF SELF SEEKING PEOPLE GIVING THEMSELVES CREDIT FOR GETTING CONGESTINA HELP (WHEN YOU GIVE TO THE NEEDY DO NOT ANNOUNCE IT WITH TRUMPETS).
I THINK THE NOISE SHOULD BE MORE ABOUT FINDING A WAY TO KEEP PEOPLE LIKE HER RELEVANT IN THEIR RESPECTIVE FIELDS SO THAT THEY CAN HELP MENTOR OTHER UPCOMING TALENTS WHILE EARNING A LIVING” lilian wrote
