A Kisumu family has been forced into a heavy psychological torture following the mysterious disappearance of their newborn baby at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching & Referral Hospital.
The infant mysteriously went missing shortly after being born through a cesarean process at the JOOTRH on Monday, November 19, 2018.
The couples, Inviolata Awino and her husband Tobias Ochieng are still in shock at the disappearance of their baby immediately after birth.
According to Awino, during the delivery process, she heard a baby’s cry but was unable to see the infant since she was somehow unconscious.
A nurse on duty later that evening informed her that her infant had died and taken to the facility’s morgue.
What the couple has failed to understand is why the hospital’s administration failed to inform them of the ‘death’ before the decision of the body to be moved to the morgue was arrived at.
The hospital’s Chief Executive officer Dr. Peter Okoth has however said that he’s not aware of the incident.
He added that if there is such a complaint then the matter should be reported to the police to take up investigations, adding that it’s a criminal offense.
