16 Ambira High School students who had been arrested after a viral video have been released on grounds that there’s no sufficient evidence to aid pressing charges against them.
They had been accused of insulting Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and her and Interior counterpart Fred Matiang’i.
The 16 were nabbed after they recorded themselves on November 23rd hurling unprintables at the two government officials, a video that elicited mixed reactions online.
Ukwala Resident Magistrate Gladys Adhiambo while releasing the students ordered them to cooperate with the police who are still investigating into the matter.
They were forced to spend a week in detention to pave way for a 7-day investigation after their arrests which took place between November 23rd and 25th.
