A section of angry worshipers in a Kisumu church were forced to cut short the service after they attacked the preacher who they alleged was misusing church funds from faithfuls.
The irked Christians sought answers from a man they accused of squandering what they have been collecting daily meant for church operations.
The church pastor could not explain how over KES 600,000 had gone missing without being accounted for.
The money had been collected to aid purchase of a church vehicle.
According to a section of the congregation, trouble started when police officers were spotted at the church compound on a day when elections of a new church board was to take place and handing over carried out.
Well, the pastor in charge couldn’t vividly explain how he’d used the funds as it was a necessity while handing over to a new official, prompting the faithfuls to protest amid the heavy security that had been deployed by the outgoing priest.
Attempts by the police to calm down the angry mob who had now mixed with outsiders bore no fruit as they threatened to cause more havoc if attacked by the police.
