A Luo woman who had gone missing on Tuesday last week has been found lying lifeless in a city mortuary.
Mildred Odira, who works as a switchboard operator at the Nation Media Group seconded by Foresight company, was last seen on Tuesday at 4am by security guards in Kariobangi South, where she lives.
She had boarded a taxi with an aim of being taken to the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital after falling ill that night. According to her kin, Mildred had recently been diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension and ulcers.
Well, KISUMUINSYDER.CO.KE can now confirm that Mildred is no more, her body was on Monday discovered at Nairobi’s City Mortuary.
This was after her sister Maureen Anyango and the family had visited several hospitals in the city looking for the mother of one, a nine-year-old son.
Maureen realized that Mildred wasn’t home after her nephew, Mildred’s son failed to report to school that Tuesday morning.
“We saw her son come to our house in the morning and we asked him why he had not gone to school, he then informed us that her mother had left very early in the morning and that is when we started inquiring about her whereabouts,” she added.
Maureen who’s the deceased’s elder sister adds that they tried reaching Mildred but her phone was off.
Police had on Saturday arrested a taxi driver in connection with the disappearance of Mildred, the woman he was to take hospital.
On Friday, when the taxi operator was questioned, he told the family that he drove and left Mildred at the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital.
The taxi driver, had earlier told the family that he drove and left Mildred at the Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital, after 20 minutes.
But according to the hospital’s CCTV footage, the driver entered the hospital gates at 4:30AM and left at 5:57AM, 1 hour 27 minutes, which contradicted the duration had given to her family.
“Millie is no more, we have found her at the City Mortuary,” Maureen said on Monday
Her face had two wounds and the lower body was also smashed. Her trouser was torn at the top and her inner wear partly lowered.
According to City Mortuary, records indicate that the body was brought in last Tuesday at 6.31AM and booked as an unknown person.
The body was taken to the mortuary by Kasarani traffic police, saying that they had picked it around Mwiki.
