After hammering side Egypt’s Zamalek 4-2 in their group match opener, Gor Mahia has found themselves in a position where they are unable to travel to Angola for the next game.
The green army is set to take on Angola’s Petro de Luanda on Wednesday, 13th Feb at the Estadio 11 de Novembro from 7PM.
The club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier made it clear that the KES 2.7M CAF kitty for group stage qualification has not yet reflected in the team’s account, forcing them to seek aid from the Government.
“As it stands now the only way is the Government intervention through the Ministry that will help us. We had a similar arrangement before, and helped us a great deal,” he said.
KISUMUINSYDER.CO.KE has learnt that Gor Mahia’s enormous challenge to continental success is their financial instability despite its squad being ready to face it out with Africa’s finest teams.
“We have to concede that among the hindrances to Gor Mahia’s journey in continental competitions is money. The team has proved that with money and support anything is possible,” gor’s chairman said
