There was heavy drama on Tuesday in Kisumu which almost led an evangelical church leader to be lynched by an angry mob.
According to residents in Usoma village in Kisumu West, Lucas Samo Mtishby, an evangelist at the Voice of the Potter’s Messengers International Ministries is leading a church that is rumored to be behind the death of a renowned mechanic.
This came up after Vincent Abdallah, 63, a mechanic who was in charge of repairing and maintaining the church’s vehicles lost his life in the hands of goons said to be attached to the church.
According to unconfirmed reports, the late had not been paid for sometime for his services and decided to protest in the church compound demanding for his dues.
He camped at the church compound threatening to confiscate assets owned by the institution until he’s paid.
This was his dead end as a group of armed youths descended on him, clobbering him to pulp and wounding him.
According to an insider at the church, the youths alerted the police of the incident, claiming that Abdallah had accessed the compound to steal church equipment.
The police came and took Abdallah away but was pronounced dead on arrival at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The news about Abdallahs’ death irked locals who went on violent demonstrations, raiding the church to protest the heinous act.
The outrageous residents torched one vehicle belonging to the church, while two others were left with damaged windscreens prompting the church members who were within the vicinity to run for their lives.
When the evangelist tried calming the angry mob, he was pelted with stones only to be rescued by the police.
