On Wednesday evening at Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live, popular kid-acrobat Wendy Waeni caused a national uproar after accusing her ex-manager Joe Mwangi of exploiting her.
According to Wendy, Joe never remitted a single coin she made from her worldwide performances for the past 5 years, but instead used her financial gains for his personal benefits.
“I’ve been performing all over the world, and right now I live in Huruma because of Joe Mwangi. I’ve performed in Rwanda, Germany, and China…and I’ve not got even a single penny.
My mum is really suffering right now, she sells sweets, I live in Huruma in a single-room with her,” she said.
In a separate interview, Citizen TV uncovered the situation of the teen and her mum and indeed, the two are languishing in poverty in a Huruma single room.
Her mum confirmed not having received any financial support from the man who claimed to be her daughter’s manager.
Her posts on social media and communication were also being controlled by Joe, who used the platforms to extort money from unsuspecting well wishers who were out to help grow Wendy’s career.
People often accused the girl of being arrogant and rude from her responses on social media yet she was not the actual person behind them.
“People are telling me that I’m rude, that I’m a brat, that I post things on Instagram…which I don’t really know. I don’t have access to my social media accounts, it’s Joe Mwangi who controls them.” wendy disclosed
Well, among those who might have interacted with Joe thinking they were talking to Wendy is renowned artist from Kisumu, Suzanna Owiyo.
Suzanna is a series of screenshots confirmed that at one time ‘Wendy’ approached her for financial aid towards a foundation project.
“So unfortunate. All along I thought I was in communication with Wendy kumbe it was #joemwangi I did get the request to support her Foundation project” suzanna said in a tweet
According to the screenshots, Joe was also demanding for lots of other goodies from the artist which turned out to be an extortion plan.
Wendy Waeni has since created a new Instagram account (@wendywaenikenya) in order to brighten her promising career.
