Donnah Akinyi Obera, a renowned Kisumu-born, Norway based events and fashion entrepreneur successfully launched a lucrative fashion event in her home country at the onset of 2019’s festive season on 14th December in Nairobi.
For starters, Donna Akinyi Obera is not only a name that can’t go unmentioned in the Scandinavian entertainment industry but also a household brand internationally following the numerous events she has successfully hosted and enviable showbiz awards she’s bagged.
In May 2019, she was declared the best promoter in the 2019 Scandinavian Afrobeats Music Awards (SAMA) where she floored other 4 well grounded promoters.
This was after earning a similar recognition at the GLIOS Awards in November 2018.
Donnah has hosted a number of world class events and worked with top international artistes and A-list celebrities.
In March 2019, the curvaceous lass visited Kisumu for charity and an held an exclusive VIP event at the Acacia Hotel. Donnah and her entourage visited the District Hospital and the Joyland Special School where she supports a number of charities.
Away from the Events company, Donnah also owns a high end beauty parlor in the Norway, the OberaX2 Salon & Beauty Parlor.
Well, on 14th December, Miss Curvy Kenya, her new addition to her line of events was launched at a successful fete that went down at the KIZA Lounge & Restaurant’s ballroom, Nairobi.
Miss Curvy Curve, a body positivity campaign, aims at promoting self confidence among the rarely recognized curvy models.
“Most fashion events and beauty pageants focus on small bodied models, leaving out a huge fraction of talented models, the curvy pageants.
Here’s a platform that will encourage such models to get out of their comfort zones and come out to show case their worth” says Donna
The first edition of the event which was also the launch attracted over 35 models who auditioned, giving way to only 10 finalists who battled for the top prize of KES 100,000 plus lots of goodies from sponsors who were part of the event.
The event was largely attended by fashion lovers and dozens of celebrities who came to witness the fete which will now be an annual happening in Kenya’s events’ calendar.
It was hosted by media personality Willy M. Tuva and plus size model/actress Bridgit Achieng.
Winners were determined by a celebrity judge bench which consisted of Mwende Macharia, Massawe Jappani, Abby Williams and the founder, Miss Curvy Curve, Donna Oberah.

The crown went to 23-year old Gillian Becky Mouvi, a Geologist who was also a first timer in modelling.
“I didn’t expect to win as all the finalists were breathtaking mentally, physically and talent wise. As we speak I still can’t believe it, it’s like a dream.
The whole experience of the event was mind blowing, from the training to the support from both the organizers who were always available and the girls who were literally the icing on the cake.” she said
The winner walked away with;

- Free Modelling coaching for 2 months courtesy of Catwalk Training with Nivea
